Private evaluation class for new students
We offer all new students a 15 minute 1-to-1 online evaluation class. This gives us the opportunity to fully assess your child's current ballet standard, understanding of technique and areas for development. If your child hasn't taken ballet classes before, it gives them the chance to learn their first basics positions and steps in a one-to-one environment. It also gives the parent and child the opportunity to meet the teacher and get a feel for how we can help you with our online classes – plus, it makes the first lesson a little less daunting!
If you would like a longer evaluation class, please contact us and we'd be only too happy to arrange this. 15 minutes – £10

Classical Ballet
Non-syllabus ballet
Prices start from £5.50 a class
Non-syllabus ballet classes secure excellent classical ballet technique, artistry and musicality while providing students with a well-rounded ballet education. We offer multiple non-syllabus ballet classes each week, catering for different levels of experience – in the Junior classes, this ranges from the first introductions of a formal ballet class structure, through to more advanced classes that prepare for transition into our Senior department. Non-syllabus ballet classes are attended by both the more serious dance student and those who wish to attend once a week as a hobby. We also work closely with competitive elite gymnasts, skaters and sportspeople to enhance their training with ballet classes via our Ballet for Sports programme |
The benefits of non-syllabus ballet is that the classes do not work to the restriction of a syllabus. Non-syllabus ballet classes are structured lessons that help to develop responsiveness to ballet exercises and steps, and improve knowledge of ballet vocabulary.
Classical ballet classes help to improve technique, stamina, strength, control, and poise – alongside being a great form of exercise. Ballet is widely considered to be the core technique required for all dance styles.

Vaganova method ballet
Prices start from £5.50 a class
The Vaganova method is a slow and methodical training, developing precision, strength, delicate arms and strong technique. This world-renowned ballet training method was developed in Russia by dancer, choreographer and teacher Agrippina Vaganova (1879–1951). The Vaganova method is taught at some of the most famous ballet schools in the world, including the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow and the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St Petersburg. It is highly recommended that gymnasts take Vaganova method ballet classes. |
Progressing Ballet Technique®
PBT strengthens students while developing an understanding of the depth of training muscle memory in order to achieve their personal best in classical ballet. Students use equipment such as yoga balls, soft balls and exercise bands in PBT classes.
Our PBT classes are taught by fully certified, Level 3 PBT teacher, Miss Johanna Limbering/Body Conditioning
Please note that this is an add-on class only. We cannot accept students solely into our Limbering/Body Conditioning class – they must also take an online ballet class with us.

As an online school, we work hard to build a community atmosphere throughout all of our classes. Dancers are not 'just a number' in an unlimited-sized online class where it doesn't matter if progress is made or not. Nor are our online classes taken as a hybrid class, with students streaming along, forgotten about, in the background of a face-to-face class.
Each of our online classes are a purely online class. We place strict limits on class sizes. Just like a face-to-face class, we work to develop the individual skills of the dancer, providing live feedback throughout the classes. We get to know each of our online dancers, their families (and often, pets!) and welcome everyone into our global community.

My daughter has now been with Janet Lomas School of Dancing since last summer. Whilst having attended ballet lessons for a number of years her progress had stagnated and we were concerned that she may lose her enthusiam for dance. Having attended a trial session with Miss Johanna I was completely reassured that this was the school for us. It became apparent that our previous dance experience was more of an activity rather than a lesson in ballet, and whilst my daughter had always enjoyed her lessons I was confident that she would continue to be challenged and improve with her new school. As her skills have developed we were given the opportunity to attend additional lessons including limbering which really have made impressive improvements to her overall strength, flexibility and fitness.
