“I have been so impressed with Janet Lomas School of Dancing where my daughter attends and loves it. The quality of teaching is exceptional and the teacher, Miss Johanna is passionate, caring and very supportive. She really pays attention to each child individually and make sure you get the attention you need."

Our live online dance classes mean that children can study ballet with real-time feedback, taught by experienced, fully qualified teachers. This means that students can learn, progress and enjoy ballet in online classes.
We are proud that the progress of our online students is exactly the same as we would expect from face-to-face classes – our online students have been awarded places at full-time schools with scholarships, associate programmes and intensive courses. We have modified all our dance sessions to keep everyone safe while dancing at home and to suit a smaller home environment. We also have strict guidelines in place to keep students safe in the online environment. |
|
Our classes are run with professional tuition and professional audio/video set up. All our online classes are purely taught online – they are not hybrid classes, where a camera and screen is in the corner of a busy face-to-face class, meaning the online student is forgotten about.
We place strict limits on all our class sizes. Dancers are not 'just a number' in an unlimited-sized online class where it doesn't matter if progress is made or not. Just like a face-to-face class, we work to develop the individual skills of the dancer, providing live, personal feedback throughout the classes. We get to know each of our online dancers, their name, their progress, and welcome everyone into our global community. And most importantly, all of our teachers are fully qualified teachers with world-renowned organisations – Royal Academy of Dance, Imperial Society of Teacher of Dancing and National Association of Teacher of Dancing. As a fully qualified member, teachers must have reached a high standard themselves as a dancer, but also then take extensive pedagogy training and multiple teaching exams to receive their full certification. Fully qualified teachers then have to uphold professional teaching standards, maintain annual CPD training requirements and hold DBS/safeguarding requirements. |

We welcome students from across the world to our online ballet classes! If Zoom allows us to connect to your country, then we can teach you. Classes are taught in English, however if English is not your child's first language, please do not be concerned – we are experienced in teaching international students who speak minimal/no English. |

A sense of belonging to a dance school community, regardless of geographical location.Unlike a pre-recorded video or live social media video, students can receive real-time feedback in their dance classes, allowing them to learn and progress. |
Provides access to fully qualified and experienced teachers, giving students the opportunity to access a high-quality dance education.Hassle free and easy to access (no need for mum/dad taxi!) |
No additional costs for petrol and saves travelling time. Some children are unable to access face to face dance classes for a variety of reasons. Joining in online ballet classes allows them to keep dancing and not give up an activity they love. |
It is testimony to the professionalism and standard of teaching of the school that we have still seen significant improvements despite not having face to face lessons. From our experience I cannot recommend the school enough to anyone considering dance lessons for their child.
