Congratulations

Congratulations to our five students who performed in Birmingham Royal Ballet's Swan Lake Dreams on the stage at the 1850-seat Birmingham Hippodrome on Sunday 23rd February.

You have all shown such dedication and we couldn't be prouder of you all.

We are extremely proud of our past student, now in his second year at Elmhurst Ballet School, to have been chosen for Elmhurst's advertising campaign, #SurpassYourPotential. He was chosen from his year to represent to school and attended a photo shoot in London late last year with the famous dance photographer Johan Persson.

Congratulations to our students who attended competitions on Saturday and Sunday. With most of our team absent due to illness and rehearsals, our very tiny group of students who attended represented the school beautifully!

Swan Lake Dreams Teachers Day

Miss Johanna, along with two of her Silver Swans, attended a special Teachers Day at Birmingham Royal Ballet on Sunday 16th February.

They were treated to an introduction with lead team members at Birmingham Royal Ballet, followed by watching a full run of the production, which features five students from our school. The day concluded in a Q&A with team members and professional dancers from Birmingham Royal Ballet, Alys Shee, Alexander Yap and Rory Mackay, who are taking the lead roles in the performance.

Our students successfully auditioned for roles in the ballet and have been travelling from Manchester to Birmingham for weekly rehearsals since October. Our three junior students are cast as little swans, and two of our Silver Swans are cast as a Lady in Waiting, and the main role of the Queen.

Two of our current students and one past student (now studying ballet full time at Tring Park School) were featured in a Can You Dance? convention competition.

Our three students, aged 11, 13 and 14, are all regular models for Dancewear Central.

Silver Swans® class at Oldham Coliseum

It was lovely to be invited back to teach a Silver Swans session for over 50s group, Full Circle at Oldham Coliseum.

The class was taken on the stage of the Oldham Coliseum and it was wonderful to hear such great feedback from the session once again.

Thank you to two of our current Silver Swans® who were fantastic assistants at the session.

UKDCC Bradford success and sad goodbye!

We were so thrilled that at UKDCC Bradford yesterday, one of our seven year old competitors achieved 1st place in the 6-7 ballet category. This was in a category of 47 entrants – a fantastic achievement.

However, this was a very sad day as it was also her last competition with us before she moves country.

What a way to finish – a 1st place champion!

We are so proud of all you have achieved with us – wins and placings at every competition, high examination results, as well as all the fantastic friends you have made at dancing. You have been an absolute pleasure to teach. We will all miss you very much!

Congratulations to the 5 students who went to the competition today – we were missing quite a lot of our team due to external dance events, but those who went all represented the school beautifully, with excellent results (especially for two of our girls, who at their very first competition, reached the semi finals!)
