On Sunday 12th March, our students attended the North West Dance Class Championships 2017 in Liverpool. We are so proud of our pupils for their hard work and professionalism – some of whom it was their first ever competition. Twenty-seven schools from all across the north of England entered the championships, and all classes had very large numbers of entrants. The standard was exceptionally high across all age groups. Candidates were taught a challenging study in front of a large audience and three adjudicators. The championship comprised an initial heat (in some ages, two heats), semi-finals and the finals.. Here are our fantastic results: Ages 6-7 Ballet (28 competitors)
Ages 8-9 Ballet (43 competitors)
Ages 10-11 Ballet (55 competitors)
Congratulations to everyone – especially our North West Dance Class Champion!
Special mention to the parents who were so supportive of all the children and each other. All Saturday and Tuesday classes are now at Blackford Bridge United Reformed Church (on the main A56, Manchester Road, BL9 9TQ)
It is a beautiful large, spacious room with lots of natural light. The flooring has a naturally sprung wooden base which is ideal for dancing on (plus it sounds fantastic when tap dancing!). All other midweek classes remain at Grundy Centre. We felt that we just had to share this beautiful photo of our student at The Royal Ballet School's White Lodge (London). She was there after reaching the final forty students (from thousands of auditions across the world), and participated in a final round of auditions lasting two days. Plus, she got to see the famous bronze statue of the legendary Dame Margot Fonteyn. This famous statue stands in the foyer of White Lodge and every morning, the students touch the statue's finger for luck – this finger famously shines very brightly! |
