They will both continue to train at our school alongside classes in their associate programmes.
In the finals, students then had to perform once again to the panel of judges. The adjudicators were William Glassman (Artistic Director of Ballet Central), Brenda Garratt-Glassman (Dance Theatre of Harlem), and Lai-Sheung Chan (Hong Kong Ballet). In our very first year of entering the Senior Awards, we were delighted to announce that both our students received awards. They were: - Class Commendation (one of only two awarded) - The Joan Watts Cup for Musicality After winning these titles, both students are now Imperial Ballet Scholars for the forthcoming year. ISTD Imperial Classical Ballet Senior Awards - Finals We were delighted to be contacted by the BBC and Mercury Press as they wished to run stories on our Silver Swans® ballet classes in Bury. Last Tuesday we were visited at 7am by BBC Radio Manchester's roving reporter, Inzy Rashid, to appear on Chelsea Norris' Breakfast show. We were featured in four segments of the show, which you can hear at 10:50, 1:17:16, 1:54:00 and 2:15:57: BBC Radio Manchester We were later joined by Peter Marshall from BBC North West Tonight for our Silver Swans® ballet class. This was shown in the 1.30pm lunchtime bulletin and also the 6.30pm evening news. A social media video has since been created, which is available to watch here on BBC North West Facebook. After a short break, we were then joined by a Mercury Press photographer, James, who ran a photo shoot of our Silver Swans® in action. The following day we were visited by Mercury Press again as they filmed a short video, which can be viewed on YouTube. The story and photos are currently in The Times and the Daily Express. A reporter from the Newsquest North West also visited us, and interviewed several of our Silver Swans®. Our story has featured in the Bury Times and also the Bolton News, both featuring a front page picture.
