It was a lovely surprise to open this month's edition (April) of Dancing Times and see one of our students featured. She is modelling the latest release from Roch Valley Dancewear.

The Dancing Times, first published in 1910, is Britain's leading dance magazine and is distributed to both the UK and abroad.

Birmingham Royal Ballet – Beauty and the Beast

On Sunday 24th March, four of our students, aged 9-12, participated in workshops with Birmingham Royal Ballet, held at The Lowry, Salford.

The ballet workshops were based on Birmingham Royal Ballet's current touring production of Beauty and the Beast.

The students were taught a non-syllabus ballet class, followed by learning an extract from Beauty and the Beast. The teacher was Alex from Birmingham Royal Ballet and the class was accompanied by a live pianist.

Silver Swans perform at Danceworks

On Sunday 10th March, a group of 13 of our Silver Swans (aged 56-84) were selected to represent dance in Bury, and were invited to perform as part of 'Danceworks'.

The two-night community dance festival for Greater Manchester took place at the New Adelphi Theatre in Salford and was supported by National Lottery funding from Arts Council England. The event was organised by Dance Manchester.

The Silver Swans performed two dances – first was a soloist performing the Odette solo (Act II) from Swan Lake. The second dance was a group performance of the Bolero from Coppélia.

The ladies enjoyed a fantastic day – and they all gave a wonderful performance.

ISTD Imperial Classical Ballet Senior Awards 2019

On Sunday 3rd May, one of our ten year old Junior students competed in the annual ISTD Imperial Classical Ballet Senior Awards.

The annual competition, hosted by our examination board, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), was held at The Hawth Theatre in Crawley, West Sussex. It featured dancers who had qualified from all across the UK and Europe.

The competition involved students learning and performing choreography taught on the day, alongside a prepared set variation, to a panel of judges. In the Grade 4 class, the day began with 57 students performing in three categories,

Congratulations to our student, as she was one of only 21 competitors who was chosen to go through to the finals later that day. This was a wonderful achievement as she was the smallest, and one of the youngest in the class, competing against children as old as fourteen.

Dancewear Modelling

Congratulations to our students who have participated in multiple photo shoots for two dancewear companies recently - Dancewear Central and Roch Valley Dancewear. It is wonderful seeing our students used regularly for modelling by these international dancewear companies and their photos being used across their websites, catalogues, email newsletters and social media.

Our students have been featured alongside dancers from English National Ballet, The Royal Ballet, Northern Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet School, Tring Park School for the Performing Arts and Elmhurst Ballet School.
