We're very excited to see one of our past student's featured on Elmhurst Ballet School's Instagram account this week.
Elmhurst Ballet School is a full time ballet school, in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet. Our student, who has trained with us in ballet since he was a beginner, is now in his second year at the school. There is some very exciting news to follow soon... watch this space! We would like to also send him our congratulations as he has been accepted into the Royal Ballet School Spring Intensive 2020.
Following this, we all went to The View restaurant, at the Holiday Inn in Liverpool to have lunch. It was such a lovely surprise for the room to be decorated for Christmas for us, with crackers and beautifully lit trees on the tables.
After a delicious lunch, we then headed back to Liverpool Empire to watch the matinee performance of The Nutcracker. It was a wonderful day, with coach travel by Swans Travel. A huge thank you must also be said to Ambition for Ageing for their generous grant which made this day possible. It was such an inspiring and enjoyable day! Darcey Bussell: Dancing to Happiness BBC Two Thursday 28th November 2019 2.25pm Last summer we were honoured to be invited to film with Dame Darcey Bussell for her documentary 'Darcey Bussell: Dancing to Happiness'. Darcey came to film with our Silver Swans at our dancing school in Bury and joined in one of the classes.
The programme was first aired in December 2018. We were very honoured that following our Silver Sunday event, the Worshipful the Mayor and Mayoress of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, Councillor Trevor Holt and Mrs Evelyn Holt, invited a small group of our Silver Swans® to Bury Town Hall. Our Silver Swans® were given a tour of the Mayor's Parlour and Council Chambers, and had refreshments with the Mayor and Mayoress. It was a wonderful day that concluded with a meal out afterwards!
It may have been Bonfire Night with fireworks lighting up the sky, but 20 of our Silver Swans thoroughly enjoyed being at Vue Cinema in Bury watching a live stream from the Royal Opera House in London on 5th November.
The Royal Ballet performed a triple bill consisting of Concerto, Enigma Variations and Raymonda Act III. The ballet's were introduced by Dame Darcey Bussell and Anita Rani.
