This afternoon, nine students enjoyed their very first workshop given by English National Ballet. The workshop was based on their current touring production of My First Ballet: Sleeping Beauty. The workshop took place on the stage of the Palace Theatre in Manchester. The girls (aged 4-6) danced and acted the different characters in the story – they were also shown and had the opportunity to hold the tutus of Princess Aurora and the Bluebird. Even the parents were invited to join in and do a little bit of ballet on stage too! A most enjoyable and informative afternoon was had by all! On Monday 21st March, one of our students was delighted to participate in a masterclass with star of the TV hit show Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller. Not only did she meet and dance for Abby Lee Miller, but also met Brynn, her mum Ashlee (from Dance Moms), and Mackenzie Sol. She learned dances in a lyrical style taught by Abby, hip hop choreographed by ALDC LA choreographer/instructor Guy Amir, plus participated in a hip hop style audition, which we are extremely proud that our pupil was selected by Abby! Four of our Junior students enjoyed a fantastic morning with Birmingham Royal Ballet at The Lowry Theatre, Salford. The morning started with a ballet class, and they then learnt an extract from Romeo and Juliet. Parents and families were then invited to watch a performance by the girls of the extract, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed! The teacher was Andrea Tredinnick (ex-Royal Ballet School and ex-Birmingham Royal Ballet for twenty four years, eighteen of which as a first soloist), and the class was held in the beautiful Compass Room at The Lowry. On Monday 30th November, one of our eleven-year-old students had a great experience attending a three-hour jazz technique workshop with Rebecca Davies and Lucy Ellis. Rebecca, from Melbourne, Australia, has taught at the famous Abby Lee Dance Company and the students of the hit TV show 'Dance Moms'. Rebecca's students have also been featured in the TV series Dance Academy, and worked in productions with Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada as well as countless stage and television appearances. We are very privileged to have had such an incredible opportunity whilst Rebecca and Lucy are in the UK. One of our students had a fantastic time this morning participating in a workshop with English National Ballet, based on the ballet 'Romeo and Juliet', at The Palace Theatre, Manchester.
The workshop took place on the stage of the Palace Theatre, where they learnt extracts from Rudolf Nureyev's choreography. Three of our students had a fantastic time this morning participating in a workshop by Birmingham Royal Ballet at The Lowry, Salford, based on their latest touring production of Swan Lake - the teacher was Andrea Tredinnick (ex-Royal Ballet School and ex-Birmingham Royal Ballet for twenty four years, eighteen of which as a first soloist) The morning started with a ballet class, and later on, the girls learnt a section from Swan Lake, before performing it for parents.
