Congratulations to seven of our junior students who competed at the UK Dance Class Championships in Liverpool on Sunday 4th March. With huge numbers of entrants in each age group, and three elimination heats, each student had to learn and perform a short dance in front of a large audience and three adjudicators. The standard was incredibly high with 26 schools from all across Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire and North Wales competing. All seven students reached the semi finals with five qualifying for the finals. Special congratulations to the 6-7 winner as this was her first competition.   Ages 6-7 (34 entrants) 1st place 3rd place 6th place Ages 8-9 (70 entrants) 5th place 6th place  A group of our Silver Swans enjoyed an afternoon at the ballet.
They watched Ballet: Masterworks at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, featuring the Manchester Concert Orchestra (conducted by John Pryce-Jones) with solo dancers from the Russian State Ballet of Siberia. The concert included extracts from the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Coppelia, Spartacus to name but a few. |
