Congratulations to Miss Johanna who has now completed her training in Dance for Parkinson's.
Dance for Parkinson's training was through People Dancing UK and hosted by Rubicon Dance. The training involved written assessment and a weekend of practical workshops from tutors from Cardiff Metropolitan University, English National Ballet, NDCWales and Parkinson's Dance Science. There is growing evidence about the physical, mental and social benefits of dance for people living with Parkinson's. Dance can support by helping to develop confidence, strength and also temporarily relieving some participants of symptoms in everyday life. Congratulations to our students who took ISTD Modern Theatre exams at Easter.
Our exam session had a 100% pass rate, with 100% Distinctions. ISTD examinations are recognised by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations) and the CEA (Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment) – examinations also operate in the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). Congratulations to the following seven students who gained marks in the 90's. On Tuesday 11th June, a group of 33 of our Silver Swans (plus a few husbands too!) enjoyed a wonderful evening at Bury the Rock's Vue Cinema. We went to watch the Royal Ballet's performance of Romeo and Juliet, which was live streamed from the Royal Opera House in London.
The performance was live streamed to 1166 cinemas in 26 countries, as well as 16 BP Big Screens. The performance was presented by Ore Oduba and Dame Darcey Bussell (who our Silver Swans were delighted to see once again!)
